SELF-CARE
Understanding What It Takes to Be Healthy In Mind & Body
Self-Care: You First To Help Others
Too often, people don't take the time to care for their own needs. Now, some may say that they do what they want and don't let others dictate how they use their time, but that is not the same as self-care.
According to the World Health Organization's definition, self-care means taking all the steps you can to take care of:
- physical health and well-being
- hygiene
- nutrition
- managing stressors
- seeking medical care if needed
Women are frequently seen as not addressing self-care because they are so busy caring for others.
Men often neglect self-care because they feel like they are too busy with work to support their family to worry about self-care issues.
There is also the group of males, often ages 30 and younger who feel it is not "masculine" to think about self-care.
The one exception is personal self-care in terms of appearance.
But self-care is care in many areas to maximize physical and mental health.
In the blogs for this category, I will cover the areas of:
- Physical Care
- Emotional Care
- Mental Care
- Social Care
- Spiritual Care
- Practical Care
- Professional Care
